Support for Every Stage of Life

The Benevolent Society 2019

The NDIS rollout across Gold Coast commenced last July. As one of Australia’s largest providers of specialist disability services, The Benevolent Society have helped hundreds of people with disability meet their goals through NDIS care plans.

With help to set and reach goals, people with disability can take on new stages like transitioning into independent adult life.

Providing specialist disability support services to meet your goals

For people reviewing their NDIS care plans for the first time, this process can be daunting. We support people with disability, making the process as simple as possible and ensuring that plans provide the necessary resources for reaching goals and creating positive change.

Australia’s oldest charity, The Benevolent Society has been making positive change for over 200 years. Our specialist disability services are provided by multidisciplinary teams including speech pathologists, occupational therapists, behaviour support specialists and support coordination.

The Benevolent Society’s mobile workforce is always on hand and ready to service participants at home, school and other convenient locations.

There for you during life transitions

There are many points in life when you may need a bit of extra support. These usually come  at ‘life transition moments’, when you move from one stage of life to the next and things change.

The Benevolent Society has supported many people on the Gold Coast and across the country through just these moments. Whether it be a child’s first diagnosis, or the point where they are leaving school, we have the experience, knowledge and supports to see you through. While life transitions can be challenging, with the right supports they can also be rewarding periods of growth, achievement and pride.

Mathew’s Story: A shared journey to independence

Living with an intellectual disability and being largely non-verbal, Mathew needs a helping hand to communicate and one-on-one help in the community.

Through the NDIS, Gail from The Benevolent Society has supported Mathew and his mum with specialist disability services, smoothing the transition into independent adult life.

“Mathew’s mum has been there for him his whole life, but she needs support too,” says Gail.

Mathew’s mum says Gail has helped her develop confidence and believe in herself, which she can pass on to Mathew.

“Sometimes I don’t feel like I can cope with issues on my own,” she says. “Gail’s support makes me feel really good.”

Gail loves to see Mathew engage in the community and take on the challenges of adulthood.

“There’s nothing better than seeing someone meet their goals. That’s what it’s all about.”
